Several suppliers have notified BW Offshore that unidentified persons have attempted to order equipment using the name of BW Offshore.

Documents have been generated which appear to be on official letterhead containing the BW Offshore logo, names and signatures, BW Offshore says.

“The email addresses used also contain the word bwoffshore. The activity that has been notified to us appears to be focused on orders received from and to be shipped to addresses in the USA,” SBM Offshore said in a statement.

The company has reported the fraudulent activity to the relevant authorities and efforts are being made to track the source.

BW Offshore warned that “methods used by fraudsters are constantly changing, and we urge existing and potential suppliers to be alert.”

“If you have already received e-mails and requests you suspect are fraudulent, we ask you to please notify one of our offices or forward the information to [email protected] for verification,” BW offshore added.
