BW takes delivery of its first MEGI LNG carrier

Singapore-based gas shipping giant BW Group said on Friday it took the delivery of the company’s first M-type, Electronically Controlled, Gas Injection (MEGI) LNG vessel.

The 173.400-cbm LNG carrier named BW Tulip is the first of the series of three sister MEGI vessels BW has on order at South Korea’s shipbuilding giant Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME).

The shipping company’s current fleet comprises of 21 LNG vessels, with 16 tankers in operation and 5 newbuildings, according to BW’s website.

Of the 21 vessels, three of them are floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs).
