Carnegie to Explore Opportunities in Mauritius

Wave energy developer Carnegie Wave Energy has signed a Collaboration Agreement with the Mauritius Research Council (MRC) to explore opportunities for commercial wave energy plants in Mauritius.

Following on from the recently announced MOU with the Government of Seychelles, the collaboration agreement focuses on identifying the opportunities and development pathways for commercial wave energy plants in Mauritius, including their integration into the existing infrastructure, to provide a sustainable source of clean electricity and desalinated water, the company noted.

Carnegie’s Project Development Officer, Tim Sawyer said: “Carnegie is looking forward to working with the Mauritius Research Council and progressing the development of a CETO project in Mauritius. With an excellent wave resource, large population and high energy costs, Mauritius is an attractive location for Carnegie to explore the application of CETO in an island market.”
