Chart provides fueling unit for Teck’s pilot LNG project

US-based Chart Industries on Friday said it has provided equipment for Teck Resources’ LNG pilot program.

Teck, the Canadian resource company, recently started a pilot program under which it will use LNG as a fuel alternative to diesel in high horsepower engines.

The company converted six haul trucks that are deployed at their Fording River operation in British Columbia.

The six haul trucks are being fueled by a Chart designed and built mobile LNG unit.

Chart added in its statement on Friday that besides the mobile unit built on the Orca platform, which was delivered in October, it has also provided on-site commissioning and training.

Liquefied natural gas for the fueling facility is provided by Fortis BC.
