CHC Group to provide additional aircraft for Shell’s Prelude FLNG project

CHC Group will provide three new Sikorsky S-92 aircraft to serve Shell’s Prelude FLNG project from its base in Broome, Australia.

These new aircraft will join a fourth S-92 already in use as part of a two-year extension of the current Shell contract in place since mid-2012, CHC Group said in its statement on Thursday.

The Prelude FLNG facility, currently being built at Samsung Heavy Industries’ Geoje shipyard in South Korea, is the largest of its kind with 488m in length and 74m in width.

Once completed, the floating LNG producer is expected to stay moored at the Prelude gas field offshore Australia for 25 years.

It will be able to produce 3.6 mtpa of LNG, 1.3 mtpa of condensate and 0.4 mtpa of LPG for export.
