CHC helicopter lands after cockpit light alert

A helicopter owned by CHC, a provider of offshore helicopters for offshore oil and gas industry, on Thursday requested a priority landing in Aberdeen.

According to a statement by Step Change in Safety, a CHC helicopter landed safely at Aberdeen Airport at 10.15am on Thursday.

The aircraft was inbound and, after a cockpit indication, the crew requested priority landing from air traffic control in accordance with normal operating procedures, Step Change in Safety said, adding that emergency service vehicles were deployed only as a precaution.

“The aircraft will now be fully inspected by CHC engineers. As per agreed process, CHC will provide a full report to the customer and report to the HSSG,” a statement said.

A Step Change in Safety further said that after a thorough inspection, the operator’s engineering team has confirmed a minor technical fault which requires a small pressure transmitter to be replaced.
