Cheniere progresses Sabine Pass LNG construction (Gallery)

Houston-based LNG player Cheniere said that during the month of April, Stage 2 (Train 3 and 4) construction reached 98 percent completion. 

In addition, work on Stage 3 reached overall completion of 65.4 percent ahead of the planned 63.4 percent, Cheniere said in its monthly report.

During the month of April, activities in Train 4 continued with a focus on the installation of A/G piping, pipe testing, pipe restoration, pipe insulation and compressor mechanical runs.

In the Train 4 compressor area, the team has completed mechanical runs on both ethylene machines and one propane machine. Mineral and synthetic lube oil flushes continue in the compressor area. Thermal oxidizer refractory dry out is complete and we commenced cold circulation of hot oil system.

On Stage 3, engineering is substantially complete with the delivery of the CO2 Absorber, the WHRU, and air coolers.

Train 4 is expected to be completed in November 2017, while Train 5 is projecting August 2019 for substantial completion.

The company is developing up to six trains at the Sabine Pass terminal with each train expected to have a nominal production capacity of approximately 4.5 million tons per annum of LNG.
