Chevron appoints new head of Australian unit

Chevron on Thursday informed that Nigel Heame, currently deputy managing director of Chevron Australia and its Australasia business unit, has been named the managing director of the ABU, effective June 1, 2016.

Roy Krzywosinski, who is currently managing director of the ABU, has been appointed to the new position of vice president of engineering in Chevron’s Energy Technology Company (ETC) in Houston, Texas, Chevron said in a statement. His appointment takes effect on June 1.

Before Heame was named to his current position in January this year, he was vice president of the Appalachian/Michigan business unit.

Krzywosinski, who will report to Paul Siegele, president of ETC and chief technology officer, will have enterprise-wide responsibility for facilities engineering, Chevron said.

As part of the changes, Chevron is consolidating ETC’s facilities engineering department with the upstream capabilities facilities engineering group into a single unit within the ETC.

Krzywosinski joined Chevron in 1981 and prior to his current role, he was general manager of Chevron PRC.

“What Roy and his team have achieved in developing Gorgon and Wheatstone is extraordinary,” said  Steve W. Green, president of Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration and Production.

“Gorgon, itself, represents the largest resource project in the history of Australia and the single largest capital investment in our company’s history. These two projects will generate significant value for Australia and Chevron’s shareholders for decades to come,” Green said.

Worth mentioning, Chevron is expected to resume production at its US$54 billion Gorgon LNG project in Australia this month after the Barrow Island facility was shut down due to mechanical problems.

Chevron announced in April that a mechanical issue in the propane refrigerant circuit on Train 1 at the plant site halted production soon after the first cargo departed from the facility on March 21.
