China: CIC Jiangsu Shipyard Launches Bulk Carrier for Tai Hang Shipping

On Nov. 1st, 2011, the leading ship “Tai Hang 118” of the series of four 47500 DWT bulk carriers for Tai Hang Shipping Co., Ltd. under Shanxi Coal International Energy Group was smoothly named and launched on the 80,000 tonner slipway by China Shipping Industry (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. (CICJS), which is another newly designed & developed ship type by CICJS after the series of 46000DWT product oil tanker and 57000DWT bulk carrier.
The new ship is 199.99m of the length overall, 32.26m of breadth, 16.20m of depth, designed draught is 10.70m, and the main engine type thereof is MAN B&W 6S46MC7 with MCR 6450kW, the designed speed is 13.0kts. The ship is scheduled to be delivered in January 2012.
At 9:06 a.m., the flowers, colored ribbons, balloons, dragon dances, powerful gongs and drums warmed up the slipway. Madam Kang Zhenru, general legal adviser of Shanxi Coal International Energy Group, conducted the ceremonial breaking of the champagne bottle. The general manager of CIC and CICJS Mr.Wu Chengye issued the launching order, and the new ship smoothly slipped down into the water in the sounds of the firecrackers, colored smokes, dragon dances, powerful gongs, drums and whistle.
After the ceremony, the attendants visited the exhibition room and production area of CICJS. The deputy general manager of China Shipping (Group) Company Mr. Lin Jianqing and chairman of the board of Shanxi Coal International Energy Group Mr. Du Jianhua, and the vice mayor of Yangzhou had a friendly meeting. The relative officers of Shanxi Coal Imp.& Exp. Group, Shanxi Coal International Energy Group, Tai Hang Shipping Co., Ltd., and Nanjing Branch of CCS, municipal leaders of Jiangdu and Yangzhou, some officers of departments concerned of CIC and over 300 staff of CICJS attended and watched the grand naming and launching ceremony.
