China: CNPC, CAS Team Up in Technological Research

A Chinese state-owned oil and gas corporation CNPC and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on Friday signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing, to team up in technological research on cutting-edge basic science of oil and gas exploration and development.

Under cooperation agreement the companies will jointly conduct research on petroleum engineering technology and equipment research and development, exploration and development technology for unconventional oil and gas, research and development of refining and chemical technologies, technologies of oil and gas storage and transportation security and gas storage construction, and technology and equipment research and development of offshore oil and gas exploration and production.

CAS President Bai Chunli and CNPC Chairman Jiang Jiemin attended the signing ceremony and discussed options for further deepening of cooperation. CNPC Vice President Li Xinhua and CAS Vice President Shi Erwei signed the agreement.

CAS is a leading academic institution and comprehensive research and development center in natural science, technological science and high-tech innovation in China.
