China: Karamay LNG Modular Plant Put in Operation

Karamay LNG Modular Plant Put in Operation

On Dec 10, 2013, Xinjiang Karamay 50×104 Nm3/d modular LNG plant has been in continuous operation for over 72 hours. GE Oil&Gas (Salof) and enCryo executed this project as technology / engineering service provider, plus key equipment supply, site supervision and commissioning and start up.

The plant using GE PCMR (pre-cooling mixed refrigerant) process. Considering severe weather impact, the entire plant is modular, skid-mounted basis which enable the plant can be built in short period.

This is a comprehensive plant include process unit, utility, facility, 10,000m3 LNG tank and loading systems.

LNG temperature reaches -162 ℃, easy to long-term storage and long-distance transport.

The features: 1) the lowest energy consumption among currently Chinese similar plants. (2) The main compressors, cold boxes, control systems are Western origin with higher reliability. (3) Fully automation system: unattended operation on-site; (4) the plant sets the mixed refrigerant recovery system that reduces the losses of the mixed refrigerant to minimum.
