China LNG imports on the rise

China, the world’s biggest energy consumer, imported 9.9 million tons of liquefied natural gas in the first half of 2014, up 18.8 percent compared to a year earlier, customs data showed.

The country paid about USD 623 per tonne for the LNG imported in the first half of this year, a rise of 7 percent when compared to the same period a year ago.

The country imported 1.35 million tons of LNG in June.
