China: LNG Imports Rise 26 Percent in Feb

China, the world’s biggest energy consumer, imported 832,392 mt of LNG in January, up 26 percent compared to a year earlier, customs data showed.

In January-February, cumulative imports came to 2.13 million mt, up 44.3% on year.

China’s natural gas imports via pipelines were at 1.28 million mt of the LNG equivalent in February.

The country’s LNG imports will climb 30% in 2012 to meet demand for power generation, Mirae Asset Securities said in a report.
