China: Repaired MV DEWI UMAYI Leaves CIC Boluomiao Shipyard

MV DEWI UMAYI successfully set sail on the morning of July 13th. Although the weather was quite hot, CIC Boluomiao shipyard strictly fulfilled the repair project and completed all additional works on time and on budget.

The subject vessel is a panamax bulker that belongs to an Indonesian company. The repairs included more than 700 tons steel plate renewal, the routine overhauling of one set of main engine & three sets of generator engines and the removal of 5 sets of cargo gears. The range of the repairs for this projects was quite large.

In order to finish the repairs on time the leaders of the shipyard paid high attention to this vessel. Since the ship owner was not quite familiar with the vessel condition, many repair jobs were added after the inspection of the vessel was carried out. For example, the volume of steel renewal was increased from 400 tons to over 700 tons.

Meanwhile, the shortage of spare parts made it difficult to organize the production. The yard kept contact closely with the customer & the suppliers for spare parts. When the spare parts of No1 and No3 generator engines arrived at the yard, the ship was only 12 days away from the departure.

Facing this situation, the production department and machinery workshop arranged to work on shifts to complete the installation of the generators. Before the testing, the workers found the fresh water pressure was not enough to do the test. The production department immediately organized technicians to solve the problem on board.

The sister vessel MV BANOWATI is also under repairing by CIC Boluomiao Shipyard.
