Repaired PCTC HOEGH SYDNEY Leaves CIC Changxing Shipyard

On July 25th 2012, CIC Changxing Shipyard successfully completed the repair of PCTC HOEGH SYDNEY.

HOEGH SYDNEY, a Ro-ro ship registered under Singapore flag, entered Changxing Shipyard on July 16th. The main work scope included the renewal of the windlass brake band, the side/stern ramp lifting wire renewal, fabrication of one oil tank and two anti-pirates doors in ER and vehicle deck, steel work iwo shell plate and attached longitudinal, as well as miscellaneous works in living area.

The major work scope of the repair was composed of the renewal of 8 square meters shell plate and attached longitudinal and the steel partially renewal at 4 floors of car decks. The specific structure of the Ro-ro vessel made the working quite inconvenient. Meanwhile, most of the repair period was spent in the dock, and the tight docking schedule together with the harshly hot weather left a lot of difficulties. The workers managed to surmount all the difficulties and completed the repair project on time relying on their continuous overtime work.
