China: Repaired Vessel Zim China Leaves CIC Changxing Shipyard

On March 6th 2012, CIC Changxing Shipyard completed a sound repair of M.V. Zim China. The subject vessel is managed by Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd, a world famous shipping company in Israel. The principal dimensions of the vessel are 190m of LOA and 32.2m of molded breath. The main scope of work was regular docking repair and hatch cover repair.

Before all of the work was completed, according to the requirement of the surveyor, the crews carried out the boiler pressure tests and found that there were some cracks on the furnace wall plates. After inspection, the owner’s representative made the decision to renew all the boiler tubes & furnace wall plates.

Since the boiler repair was not listed in the original plan and the owner had already arranged the loading project, under this situation, the production department communicated with the owner & the class surveyor and quickly arranged the staff to check on board, and overcame all the difficulties to complete the boiler repair on the 6th of March. Finally the vessel set sail one day before the schedule.
