China: Tianjin Shipyard Completes Conversion Work on Semi-submersible Vessel

China-Tianjin Shipyard Completes Conversion Work for Semi-submersible Vessel

The self-propelled semi-submersible vessel WISH WAY sailed out from Tianjin’s shipyard after the completion of conversion work for aft float case.

The vessel is a self-propelled semi-submersible vessel. For each aft float case, it is 10m in length, 6.8m in breadth and 11m in height, and the totally weight is approximately 218 tons including the pipelines, electric fittings, outfitting and other parts in the float case. In order to meet the fully directional Ro-Ro requirement, the float cases were converted, that was, to carry out integral cutting for the original float cases and lift for assembling with the prefabricated foundation which is higher 0.8 meter, refitting wholly after installing hydraulic lifting device.

The cutting place of aft float case has more than 80 closed dry tanks. In order to make sure safety in production, Yard adopted the method of cooling to hole for gas free. It is difficulty to work on water for levelness and vertical of measuring hull and float case. The yard made the reasonable working scheme on the basis of investigation. After installing the float case, the deviation is only 2mm, realizing the high-exactly refitting. Additional, the float case equipped with windlass, winch, illumination light and hydraulic equipment, pipelines and cables which converted greatly. But in the short repair period, there was no one mistake and all of them passed smoothly by once.
