Chris-Marine: Training the Future Marine Engineers

Training the Future Marine Engineers

As part of the course program in marine engineering at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, the technical specialist from Chris-Marine and IOP Marine recently conducted a lecture on diesel engine overhaul for the third year in a row.

Among the discussed topics was cylinder liner maintenance, for which Chris-Marine provides an extensive overhaul package including measurement tools, piston ring expanders and honing machines, as well as the possibilities for fuel optimizing by testing and overhauling fuel injectors and fuel pumps, which is one of IOP Marine’s core specialties.

According to lecturer and Head of “Marine Maintenance Systems”, Henrik Pahlm, the students benefit greatly from learning directly from the Chris-Marine specialists: It’s important for the students to not only be bombarded with theory but also be able to get a glimpse of how the job is out in the real world. The lecture from Chris-Marine is a great match for the course in engine overhaul, as it concerns the fuel, lubrication oil and even involved the students doing a maintenance report.”

The purpose of the lecture was to teach the students of the different possibilities of overhauling and optimizing the engine, thus preparing them for their future jobs within the maritime world.
