C&I Leasing, Svitzer sign MOU

C&I Leasing signed an MOU with Svitzer, a unit of Maersk Group, a global shipping and offshore services group, to collaborate towards obtaining a contract with Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas for terminal support tugs and pilot vessels.

Under the terms of the MOU, it is intended that Svitzer will provide assistance to setting up a simulator-based training center in C&I Leasing’s Port Harcourt office, as well as provide access to cutting edge proprietary vessel management and operational software to enhance skills of its staff and improve reliability and availability.

Svitzer is a towage and salvage company, with a fleet of over 500 vessels and operations in over 40 countries including Nigeria where it provides support for 20 LNG terminals with 76 tugs and 35 support vessels.

“This represents a significant step in our efforts to compete more aggressively in supporting the Federal Government’s laudable local content programme,” said the company in a statement.
