Snake, Clearwater Rivers Dredging to Boost Local Economy

The Army Corps’s decision to dredge parts of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers has received support from the Clarkston City Council, reports klewtv.com.

The larger vessels aren’t able to pass through certain parts of the mentioned rivers, according to Mayor Kathleen Warren.

She added that the council voted unanimously for herĀ  to send a letter supporting the option of dredging because that was the one that has the least negative impact on the community.

The Corpsā€™ mission is to maintain the lower Snake River navigation channel to Congressionally established dimensions of 14 feet deep and 250 feet wide.

Maintenance dredging in the navigation channel has not been performed since the winter of 2005-2006.
