Clough AMEC Enters Joint Venture With Beca New Zealand

AMEC, the equal share joint venture between Clough and AMEC plc, has announced a strategic joint venture with Beca of New Zealand, to offer integrated engineering, operations and maintenance services to the New Zealand oil and gas industry.

Clough AMEC Beca (CAB) will combine the internationally renowned strengths of Clough AMEC, a leader in brownfield engineering and maintenance services, with one of New Zealand’s foremost engineering resources and project management companies.

Clough AMEC General Manager Simon Taylor, formerly General Manager of similar operations in New Zealand for six years, says New Zealand’s hydrocarbons sector is indicating a need for further competition and management / systems capability, and the entry of CAB is very timely.

“Through the Clough AMEC Brownfield Management Suite, developed in the UK North Sea sector over fifteen years of services, and the sharing of expertise and resources, we can deliver a step change in the offering to the market” said Mr Taylor.

“We can also offer our Performance Improvement consultancy to clients looking for business improvement initiatives in areas such as Asset Management, Process Controls Systems, Energy & Emissions, Operator Competency / Training and Organisation and Development. This is an exciting time to be back in New Zealand.”

Beca CEO Keith Reynolds said CAB will draw on its existing subcontractor relationships in the regions to deliver full Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) services, from conceptual design through to commissioning, operations and maintenance, to the New Zealand hydrocarbons industry.

“Beca and AMEC have been working together for over 25 years, co-operating on a variety of hydrocarbons, mining and environmental projects. The existing Beca AMEC JV operated all that time in New Zealand and Australia providing engineering services on an exclusive basis to the forest industry, primarily pulp and paper mills” said Mr Reynolds.

“It was a natural step to form a second joint venture, Clough AMEC Beca (CAB), to service the hydrocarbons industry in New Zealand”
