Coast Guard Suspends Search for Missing Offshore Crewman

The Coast Guard suspended the search for a crewmember from the offshore supply vessel Dustin Danos, Monday.

Watchstanders with Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report, Saturday, of a missing crewman last seen aboard the offshore vessel Dustin Danos wearing gray long johns and a white T-shirt earlier in the day.

Multiple aircrews from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans, Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile, Ala., and a commercial helicopter crew conducted searches, along side the crews of the Coast Guard Cutter Pelican and the vessel Dustin Danos.

In total, Coast Guard crews searched for 52 hours and covered more than 2,733 square miles.

“We offer our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the missing crewmember,” said Capt. Philip Schifflin, deputy commander, Sector New Orleans.

The search is suspended pending further developments.
