Colin Beckett retires from Gorgon LNG project

Chevron executive Colin Beckett resigned from his position as general manager of the $54 billion Gorgon LNG project.

After nine years in charge, Beckett’s decision to retire on November 18 surprised many as it comes just one year before the first gas at Gorgon LNG is expected, according to The West Australian.

Company sources reveal that the resignation was voluntary while other industry sources say the decision might have been influenced by Gorgon’s costs and delays.

Some of Beckett’s responsibilities will be taken up by the project development director Scott Young.

Beckett will remain in Perth continuing his role as Curtin University’s chancellor.
