Bunkers International's New Vessel CARTAGENA SUN Launched

Bunkers International Corporation, along with its joint venture partner C.I. Vanoil has launched the bunker tanker, the BT CARTAGENA SUN. The vessel is a double-hulled, 6000 metric ton bunker tanker that will service ships at Covenas (Colombia’s crude oil port), offshore Cartagena, offshore Santa Marta, adjacent coal terminal areas, and other coastal Colombian ports upon request.

The tanker will provide HSFO, LSFO, and MGO products that comply with ISO 2005 and 2010 standards.

The CARTAGENA SUN is a Colombian-flagged 2012 rebuilt double-hull bunker tanker. The vessel is a purpose-built bunker tanker, equipped with a variable-pitch prop, bow thrusters, Yokohama fenders, and pump rates up to 500 metric tons/hour. The vessel will offer three segregations: LSFO, HSFO, and MGO. The Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (LSFO) provides a maximum of 1.00% sulfur with viscosity of 250-300 cSt, less than 200ppm of Vanadium and a CCAI of typically 820-830ppm. The HSFO with 1.5% max sulphur and low metals will also be offered along with MGO.

We are very excited to launch the BT CARTAGENA SUN. This vessel will enable our customers to obtain all the products they require at the locations they desire” said John Canal, President of Bunkers International Corp., “With proximity to the Panama Canal, the BT CARTAGENA SUN can offer a viable LSFO bunker option for vessels transiting to North American and European ECA zones. The CARTAGENA SUN enables us to deliver a reliable, competitive all-inclusive service that is time-efficient for our customers.”
