CommVault Lands Ichthys Gig

CommVault has won a deal with INPEX to manage its data for the Ichthys Liquid Natural Gas project using Simpana 10; a project that contributes to helping Australia achieve its goal of becoming the world’s No. 1 LNG exporter by 2020.

With the escalating exchange of vital engineering documents between various partners around the world, a constant uptick in data storage capacity requirements has been created, in addition to the need for collecting and preserving data-intensive maps, images and photos. These are just some of the challenges that will be addressed with CommVault Simpana 10.

To form the fundamental framework for both onshore and offshore facilities, Simpana 10 will be used to collect data from spatial and mapping applications, geographical information systems, seabed studies and other oil and gas systems.

The Ichthys LNG project will contribute to helping Australia achieve its goal of becoming the world’s No. 1 LNG exporter by 2020. In keeping with this objective, INPEX is rapidly scaling its IT environment to accommodate the massive influx in critical data needed to guide both the construction and operation of this monumental project.
