Conference Dedicated to Offshore Wind Opens Its Door in Amsterdam
The Offshore WIND Installation and Maintenance Conference kicked off this morning as part of Offshore Energy 2014 Exhibition & Conference.
Frans van der Loo, owner of LOO e-Consult and Andy Barwise, Business Development Director of Gardline Geosciences Limited gave keynote speeches at the event dedicated to the offshore wind.
Mr. van der Loo spoke about Dutch offshore wind industry impasse, explaining that a clear political commitment and clear policy trajectory for 2030 has been set.
Commenting on the first take-off tender, scheduled in 2015, he said: “It is not the technology that’s stupid, it is the transition!”
Mr. Barwise presented the importance of planning and execution of geophysical and geotechnical ground investigations for offshore renewable energy developments.
The site investigation is fundamental to ensure that, for all future stages of the project the site selection, risk mitigation, foundation solution and long-term operation of the project is optimised.
After the official opening, a session on the development of an offshore grid started. The whole conference program can be seen here.
