ConocoPhillips names COO

US energy company and LNG player, ConocoPhillips has named Matt Fox as the company’s new executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Fox will take the newly created role of COO on January 1, 2019. He is currently executive vice president, strategy, exploration and technology at ConocoPhillips.

He will have responsibility for worldwide exploration and production operations, corporate planning and technology, according to a ConocoPhillips statement on Wednesday.

ConocoPhillips also said that Don Wallette, currently executive vice president, finance, commercial and chief financial officer, will be named executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Wallette will have responsibility for the finance, commercial, acquisitions and divestitures, and information technology functions, the statement said.

Both of these appointments follow the retirement of Al Hirshberg as executive vice president, production, drilling and projects.

Hirshberg will remain in his current position until January 1 to provide support during the transition of his responsibilities, the statement said.
