Cork County Council Invites Tenders for Seabed Investigation Services

Cork County Council is inviting tenders for seabed investigation services.

The ground investigation is necessary to determine the condition and engineering properties of the estuary seabed along the proposed routes of the proposed foul rising main between Cobh and Monkstown.

The objective of the ground investigation work is to establish the following:

1. The nature and geological strata, both solid and overburden, in which it is proposed to construct the rising main;

2. Sufficient site data on which predictions of the rate and amount of future settlement will be made;

3. The presence of any irregularities in the geological structure that may affect the proposed construction works;

4. Evaluate the strength at formation level of the proposed pipelines and associated structures, and determine suitable construction techniques for various elements;

5. Groundwater levels and permeability of the surrounding soils;

6. Determine the rock quality and profile to assess the bearing capacity and strength of the rock;

7. Determine the engineering properties of the superficial deposits.

Analysis and documentation of the results including photographs, as well as a factual and interpretative report, are required for the collection network infrastructure element of the works.

The deadline for the submission of tenders is September 13, 2013.
