Croatia: Brodosplit Moves Newbuilding 468 Project to Dry Dock

Ro-Pax is a sophisticated and technically challenging to build and that vessel is a novelty for Brodosplit. It is the first ro-pax, which is being built on newly established regulations of SOLAS 2009th and the Stockholm agreement which provides the highest standards of stability, safety of life at sea and environmental protection, and the regulations BUREAU VERITAS 2008th with the highest degree of comfort-class.

Contract price makes this vessel the most expensive one built in a Croatian shipyard. Ro-Pax length is 180 m, breadht 30,50 m, upper deck depth 15,80 m, and total depth 36.8 m. Deadweight is 11.300 tons. The vessel has twelve decks, 200 cabins for 750 passengers and 56 cabins for necessary 56 crew members. Capacity of ro-pax`s garage space is 200 cars and 230 trucks. The speed of 25 knots will be acquired with four Wartsila engine type 8L46FM-CR total power 38 400 kW, which will enable him to develop a speed of 24 knots. In case of failure of one of two pairs of engines, the ship continues the safe navigation with other pair.

The ship is being built under the French flag, which requires the application of French national regulations – the strictest in Europe. Building, in cooperation with shipowners and shipyard Brodosplit, is supervised by classification society Bureau Veritas.
