Croatia: Brodosplit starts building LNG container ships

Brodosplit of Croatia held a steel cutting ceremony on Thursday for four 2000 TEU container vessels.

These container vessels will be equipped with low speed 2 stroke “dual fuel” (LNG/HFO) engines that will operate on either fuel oil or LNG.

Brodosplit said that the engines will be built in its diesel engine factory, under the license of MAN. It will also produce the tanks in which the chilled gas will be stored.

The Split-based shipbuilder added that it is constructing the vessels for its own fleet.

The vessels, to be classed by DNV GL, will be 184,43 meters long, 27.5 meters wide and 15.8 meters high with a draught of 10.3 meters.
