Dahej awaits Qatari LNG cargo

Petronet LNG-operated Dahej regasification terminal in Gujarat state, India is to receive a cargo of chilled gas from Qatar, shipping data shows.

According to the data, the 138,097 cbm Disha LNG carrier is expected to dock at the Dahej terminal’s jetty on Monday carrying a cargo from the Qatari port of Ras Laffan.

Petronet LNG said in its results report last week that its Dahej LNG terminal has operated at around 109 percent of its nameplate capacity in the fourth quarter last year.

The company reduced purchases from RasGas by about a third in 2015 due to high prices and low demand from customers.

As previously reported, Petronet LNG and Qatar’s RasGas agreed in December a revised price for the 25-year supply contract that started in 2004.

Despite a reduction in the offtake under the long-term quantities over the corresponding quarter last year, the total volume regasified at the Dahej terminal during the quarter was 138 TBTUs, Petronet said.

Tha largest LNG importer in India is also expanding its Dahej LNG terminal to boost its capacity from 10 mtpa to 15 mtpa with construction works expected to be completed by November this year.
