d’Amico Fixes Newbuild Trio

Italian-listed ship operator d’Amico International Shipping S.A. (DIS) has through its Ireland-based subsidiary d’Amico Tankers Limited inked charter agreements for three of its medium range newbuilding vessels with an undisclosed oil major.

The three vessels, Hull S410, Hull S411, Hull S424, expected to be delivered in Q4 2015, Q1 2016 and Q4 2016 respectively, were fixed for three years each.

Two of these vessels were fixed at a daily hire of USD 16,650 and the third vessel at a daily hire of USD 16,850, for an estimated total consideration of over USD 52 million during the three years.

“The conclusion of these deals clearly highlights the extremely high standards of quality, safety and environmental procedures of DIS fleet. This is also the recognition of the level of DIS fleet management, which is able to satisfy very demanding customers,” d’Amico said.

At the same time following this last deal, d’Amico has already secured time charter coverage on 12 of its total 16 newbuilding vessels (of which 8 vessels already delivered) with oil majors and refining companies, as explained, at “very profitable rates”.

According to d’Amico, these long term deals clearly indicate the confidence of major market players in the strong long term fundamentals of the industry.
