Danish Shipowners’ Association Head Bows Out

The CEO of D/S NORDEN Carsten Mortensen is stepping down as Chairman of the Danish Shipowners’ Association. Mr. Mortensen is moving from D/S NORDEN to take the position of the Group CEO at BW Group.

Carsten Mortensen was elected to the Danish Shipowners’ Association’s Board of Directors in 2005. He became the Deputy Chairman in 2009, and the Chairman in 2011.

“Carsten Mortensen has worked very hard on behalf of the Danish Shipowners’ Association for nearly ten years.

“Most recently he has been the Chairman of the government’s development team for Blue Denmark.

“It is an excellent recognition for Carsten Mortensen and Danish shipping that the global industry now looks to Denmark to recruit its top managers,” said the Acting Chairman of the Danish Shipowners’ Association, Claus V. Hemmingsen.

The previous Deputy Chairman of the Danish Shipowners’ Association’s Board of Directors, the CEO of Mærsk Drilling and a member of Executive Board of A. P. Møller – Mærsk, Claus V. Hemmingsen, takes over as the Chairman until further notice.

51-year old Claus V. Hemmingsen began his career at A. P. Møller – Mærsk in 1981.

He has been the CEO of Mærsk Drilling since 2005. Hemmingsen has been a member of the Board of Directors at the Danish Shipowners’ Association in the role of the Deputy Chairman since 2012.
