DELNG files for export authorization with DOE

Downeast LNG filed an application with the U.S. Department of Energy to export LNG from its proposed export-import LNG terminal in Robbinston, Maine.

The company seeks to export domestically-produced liquefied natural gas in an amount up to 173 million British thermal units per year for a 20-year period.

Exports would be sent to countries with which the United States have or will enter into a free trade agreement for the trade in natural gas and LNG, according to the application.

The DELNG project will include three million mtpa of nominal liquefaction capacity and the construction is planned for start in mid-2016.
