Deltamarin has entered into a new contract with Yangfan Group (China) for the design of B.Delta37 Bulk Carriers to be built for d’Amico Societa di Navigazione S.p.A. who placed with the Chinese builder a series of six fixed orders and six options.

Deltamarin will procure the Basic Design, part of the Detail Design of the vessels and Technical Procurement handling and will also have a site team to ensure the continuity all along the design phases to the production.

The design is an amended version of the standard B.Delta37 design into an open hatch configuration.

The vessels shall have the following main particulars:

Length over all 179.99 m

Beam 30.0 m

Scantling draft 10.5 m

Deadweight 38,500 metric tonnes

Cargo cubic 49,500 m3

The service speed at design draught shall be 14 knots and the model tested daily fuel oil consumption at design draft shall be 17.9 t including 15 % seamargin, ISO conditions.

The EEDI shall be 21.6 % less than the requirements to come into force.

The proven solutions that enable such improvements to existing designs are a combination of hull form, propeller, rudder and main engine solutions applied in a novel way. The latest technologies as well as Deltamarin’s experience in naval architecture have made the revolutionary designs possible.

The B.Delta design’s extremely low fuel consumption has awakened the interest of many ship owners and shipbuilders, and Deltamarin already secured several contracts for the B.Delta37 bulk carriers currently being built at Tianjin Xingang and Chengxi shipyards in China. The B.Delta series with different derivates have already attracted totally nine different owners with totally 35 ships already on order.

This is yet another of Deltamarin’s B.Delta designs where the French shipbrokers Barry Rogliano Salles (BRS) have given their valuable input especially in marketing the designs.

The work will be carried out at Deltamarin’s offices in Europe and China and utilizing the partner network. The value of the contractual design work for the bulk carriers is approximately 33 man-years.
