Det norske curbs Alvheim output due to electric fault

Det norske, an oil exploration and development company, has informed that the Alvheim FPSO, located in the central part of the North Sea, will be running at reduced production for approximately four weeks.

According to the company, this is due to an electric fault in the high voltage drive motor for one of the gas export compressors and, while the motor is being replaced, the Alvheim FPSO will be running at reduced production.

Det norske says that, currently, production is optimized within the capacity of the other gas export compressor. It is estimated that Det norske’s average 2015 production will be reduced from about 62 000 barrels of oil equivalents per day  to about 59 000 – 60 000 barrels of oil equivalents per day due to this operational interruption. The situation does not impact the reserves of the fields connected to the Alvheim FPSO or Det norske’s expected production for 2016, the company said on Tuesday.

Det norske oljeselskap ASA is the operator of the Alvheim FPSO with 65% working interest. Partners in Alvheim are ConocoPhillips AS with a 20 per cent interest and Lundin Norway AS with a 15 per cent interest.
