DNV GL sets up marine operations course

DNV GL, in collaboration with IHCantabria, is organizing a course on Sesam Marine software that simulates marine operations like heavy lifting, side-by-side mooring and floatover ahead of offshore handling.

The course ‘Simulation of Marine Operations with Sesam Marine’ aims to introduce the participants to Sesam Marine software used for simulation of marine operations like deck mating, lifting of large deck structures and modules, lift installation of subsea templates and towing by using Sima as a graphical front-end to Simo and Riflex.

The topics for the course include modelling of marine simulation in a visualised Sima environment, modeling of multibody system, flexible force models for complex marine operations, and environmental loading due to wind, waves and current.

In addition, the topics on interaction with the Sesam suite of programs (Sesam HydroD/ Wadam), post-processing of results, and examples of floating wind structures will also be covered.

The target groups for the course are naval architects and marine engineers involved in analysis of marine operations.

The prerequisite for participating in the course is to be familiar with with hydrodynamic analysis.

The course will last from May 27 to 29, 2015, and will be held in IHCantabria facilities, Santander, Spain.

Th deadline for registration is May 13.

DNV GL is a ship and offshore classification society, and technical advisor for the energy value chain including renewables and energy efficiency, as well as the global oil and gas industry.
