South Korean shipbuilding giant Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering said it has recently delivered its 100th liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker.

DSME noted in its statement it started constructing LNG carriers back in 1992, and delivered the first one in 1995.

The Greek-flagged 173,400-cbm Maran Gas Amphipolis left from DSME’s shipyard in Geoje, South Korea on July 23, DSME said, adding that this is the 100th LNG tanker the shipbulder delivered since 1995.

DSME is currently the world’s second largest builder of LNG tankers, just after its compatriot Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI).

The shipbuilder has 50 LNG carriers on order, according to the statement.
