DSME: Petronas first FLNG nearing completion

Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) said it has completed lifting and installation of all 21 topside modules for Petronas’ first floating LNG (FLNG) production unit.

The lifting of the first topside module for the PFLNG Satu began in September last year at the Quayside of DSME shipyard in Okpo, South Korea.

The modules, on which power generation and control functions instruments are installed, weigh about 2,000 tonnes each.

Petronas has appointed Technip and DSME as a consortium to jointly develop the FLNG facility with a capacity of 1.2 mtpa, 365-metre length, 60-metre width and 33-metre height.

Once the construction and installation phases complete in September 2015, PFLNG Satu will be moored in Kanowit field located 180 kilometres offshore Sarawak, Malaysia.
