Dublin Port Wants Bigger Piece of Cruise Action

Dublin Port Company has invited submissions from interested companies to develop the cruise business in Dublin Port.

Dublin Port Company (DPC) owns and operates Dublin Port, the largest port on the island of Ireland.

Dublin has strong brand recognition in the cruise tourism market and is a popular port of call for many major cruise lines.

Dublin Port has the biggest cruise business of any port on the island and has the potential for further growth.

DPC is looking to enter a multi-annual relationship with a suitable partner who can grow the cruise business both of the port, and for operators in the tourism sector.

The challenge for a potential partner is threefold:

  • To grow DPC’s cruise ship business;
  • To promote and market Dublin as a destination; and
  • To generate future repeat tourism business from cruise ship passengers.

DPC said it intends to select a partner with whom to develop a business model and commercial relationship which “will help to realise Dublin’s potential for cruise tourism to the benefit of DPC and of the wider tourism industry.”
