Dutch, Japanese Team Up for Offshore Wind

On Thursday, June 25, Holland Home of Wind Energy (HHWE) and the Japan Wind Power Association (JWPA) have signed an agreement stipulating how the two parties will act together to develop offshore wind energy in the Netherlands, Japan and possibly beyond.

Arjen Schutten, director of HHWE, said: “Japan’s offshore wind market will grow explosively in the coming years and the Dutch are here to contribute with their huge offshore knowledge and experience. We see this cooperation as the first important step.”

Last week, the Japanese delegation visited the Netherlands. The delegation consisted of thirty companies led by the Japanese Wind Power Association (JWPA). The program included visits to BOW Terminal, Damen Shipyards, ECN, Falck, Marin, Royal IHC and Knowledge Centre WMC.

During their five-day program, the Japanese delegation also visited several offshore wind farms, including the famous Westermeerwind wind farm.
