Early termination for Viking’s anchor handlers

Sweden’s Viking Supply Ships has received an early termination for three of four AHTS vessels it chartered to a major oil company back in 2013.

The original charter contract applied to the drilling seasons 2014 and 2015, with options for the drilling seasons 2016 and 2017. The drilling season was expected to start around April / May each year.

However, with the 2015 drilling season being cancelled, Viking Supply Ships has received an early termination for Brage Viking, Magne Viking and Balder Viking, which applies for the 2015 drilling season, as well as remaining optional periods of the contract.

The company says that according to the contract, an early termination fee is payable.

Viking Supply Ships says it is currently assessing several alternative contract opportunities for the vessels in harsh environments as the company now has vessels available contrary to before.
