EGS to Survey Ocean Wind Site

EGS Group has secured a contract to carry out a geophysical survey at Ørsted’s Ocean Wind offshore wind project in New Jersey, the U.S.

EGS will use the 50m survey vessel MV Neptune to conduct the survey work at different areas of the 1,100MW wind farm located approximately 15 miles off the coast of Atlantic City.

The company said it will use a full spread of high-resolution bathymetric and geophysical equipment, including a hull-mounted, dual head/dual swath Kongsberg 2040C MBES system, an Innomar SES2000 Parametric SBP and a Geo-Source sparker system.

Additionally, EGS renewed and expanded its partnership agreement with Otronix to service the offshore wind sector in Korea.

Otronix will provide hydrographic services, metocean measurements and specialist personnel to complete a comprehensive survey offer on offshore wind projects, while EGS will provide offshore geophysical and geotechnical vessels equipped with the technologies specifically selected for soil conditions in Korea.
