EGS Wraps Up Geotechnical Surveys Offshore Taiwan

EGS Group has completed two geotechnical campaigns for offshore wind projects in Taiwan.

According to EGS, the first combined Thermal Conductivity and CPT system was deployed, which provided in-situ and real-time thermal conductivity data along the inter-array and export cables.

The company said this enabled the engineers to work on reducing the manufacturing and installation costs of the power cables.

A DP2 vessel was mobilized for the work, with laboratory testing of soil samples and final processing of CPT data done onboard to streamline data delivery and engineering.

During the activities, more than 4000m of deep seabed CPT data and some 700m of vibrocore samples were collected.

According to EGS, the work was carried out through difficult conditions during the typhoon and monsoon season.
