Eleven years of production for Statoil’s Kristin field

Thursday, November 3, 2016, marked the eleventh anniversary of Statoil’s Kristin field coming on stream, Norwegian Oil and Gas Association has informed.

Located in the southwest part of Halten Bank in the Norwegian Sea, the Kristin field came online on November 3, 2005.

The field has been developed with 12 production wells in four subsea templates, tied back to a semi-submersible production platform.

The reservoir is located in approximately 5,000 feet of water. Pressure and temperature in the reservoir, which stand at 900 bar and 170 degrees Celsius respectively, are higher than in any field developed on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Kristin is currently producing 10 million cubic meters of gas per day. Daily production capacity from the field is 125,000 barrels of condensate and just over 18 million cubic meters of rich gas.

Statoil is the operator of the field with a 55.3 % working interest. Partners in the field are Petoro, ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Norway, Eni Norge, Total E&P Norge.

The Kristin field is named after Kristin Lavransdatter, a character from a trilogy of historical novels written by Nobel prize-winning author Sigrid Undset.

Three other finds were proven in the area, and all were named after key figures from the same novels, Lavrans, Ragnfrid, and Erlend.
