Elia Seeks Offshore SwitchYard Platform Fabricator

Belgian transmission system operator Elia has invited tenders for the fabrication of the Offshore SwitchYard (OSY) platform for the Modular Offshore Grid (MOG) project in the Belgian North Sea.

The contract includes but is not limited to procurement (partly), construction, load-out, hook-up and commissioning of the OSY platform.

The fabrication of the topside is expected to start in 2018 and be completed in early 2019.

The jacket and the piles are expected to be fabricated and installed by the end of 2018, with the installation of the topside scheduled for the first half of 2019.

The tender will remain open until 1 June.

The OSY platform will be situated up to 45 kilometres off Belgian North Sea coast, in water depths between 30 and 35 metres. The platform will be designed by Ramboll Danmark AS.

The Modular Offshore Grid project is aimed at connecting offshore wind farms to a high-voltage substation located on the offshore platform, which will, in turn, be connected to the onshore grid.

Elia’s board of directors approved the EUR 400 million MOG project in April 2017.
