ENAP: Chile to use U.S. LNG

State oil company of Chile, ENAP, said it would use the ongoing contract with BG Group to start importing U.S. shale gas from the first half of 2016.

In a statement issued earlier this week, the company said that BG Group “will be in conditions to supply the fuel once the Sabine Pass LNG export terminal starts operating at the end of 2015 or beginning of 2016.”

Thanks to the FTA between USA and Chile, the imported gas would no only diversify Chile’s LNG supply, but it would also be imported without tariffs.
