Eneco Luchterduinen Project Update

One of the Dutch offshore wind farms, Eneco Luchterduinen is taking shape, according to Eneco.

Van Oord’s jack-up vessel Aeolus installed a total of 16 foundations by 8 September.

Eneco added that they faced windy weather at the beginning of August, “but the last few weeks are very good. We had some minor starting problems with the Aeolus, which is normal when a new vessel starts operation, but overall we are very satisfied.”

Last week the developer took delivery of 25.7 kilometers of high voltage cable from Korean LS Cable & System which was then transferred from Thorco Liva to the cable installation vessel Ndurance.

The installation of the 150kV cable is expected to commence after 15 September and should be completed by mid-October.

Recently, Van Oord also completed the installation of the foundation which will house the wind farm substation.

The 129 MW offshore wind farm will be connected to the grid via 389kV transformer at Sassenheim.

The construction is expected to be completed by mid-2015.
