Energean names new managing director of activities in Greece

Greek oil company Energean Oil & Gas has named a new managing director for all activities in Greece.

Energean said on Tuesday via social media that it named Dimitris Gontikas as a managing director for all activities in Greece.

The appointment comes after a 4,5-year period as vice chairman and managing director of Kavala Oil, an Energean subsidiary.

Gontikas joined Kavala Oil in 2013 and was appointed to the new position of Energean’s managing director on January 1, 2018.

He has over 25 years of senior management experience in the private and public sectors and served as the president and CEO of Panathinaikos FC and held various administrative positions in media and communication companies including Greek Television SA, NOVA/Supersport Channels, Macedonia TV, Antenna TV, BBDO, and Mondial Promotions.

Before starting his career in media, Gontikas worked for five years as a legal advisor. He is a licensed attorney, holding a Law degree from Athens University and an LLM from Duke University, NC, USA.

In recent news, Energean was awarded five offshore exploration licenses within the Israeli Exclusive Economic Zone by the Israeli Petroleum Commissioner following a recommendation by the Petroleum Council.
