‘Energising the Nation’s Future’ Second Campaign Winner Announced

‘Energising the Nation’s Future’, the nationwide awareness campaign to improve recognition and understanding of the oil and gas industry, has marked the end of its second month by giving away a state-of-the-art tablet to Elizabeth Muir, solicitor at Pinsent Masons.

Throughout the duration of the campaign, Oil & Gas UK is giving away a Samsung Galaxy Tablet to a lucky winner each month, drawn at random from those who register on the campaign website.

Commenting on the win, Elizabeth Muir, solicitor at Pinsent Masons, said: “The oil and gas industry is a real jewel for the UK. It’s a sector in which we excel and one that we should be tremendously proud about. As a lawyer based in Aberdeen, I’ve had the opportunity to see the sector up close and behind the scenes. It’s a fascinating industry and one that I feel privileged to be involved in. I fully support the ‘Energising the Nation’s Future’ campaign and the awareness it looks to raise.”

Since the campaign launched on 30 April, oil and gas industry employees have been registering their interest online, mapping their location and relationship to the sector, and sharing their experiences. This information is helping to build a comprehensive picture of the industry’s UK-wide network of skilled workers and celebrating the breadth of the supply chain supported by the sector.

The ‘Energising the Nation’s Future’ campaign focuses on three key attributes of the oil and gas industry: innovation, skilled job creation and economic contribution.

Malcolm Webb, chief executive of Oil & Gas UK, added: “There is often a tendency to think about oil and gas only in terms of exploration and production. However, that is only one element of an incredibly broad and wide-ranging industry. Oil and gas supports, and relies on, a huge variety of sectors – like the legal industry where our latest winner comes from. The supply chain and support services generate nearly £27 billion a year in revenue. They are integral to the success of our industry and their role deserves to be championed and celebrated.”

The next winner will be announced in August.
